STEM Prep Tutoring was founded by Adeolu and Oluwatoyin Kode in March 2020 in Landover, Prince George’s County, to provide affordable tutoring and academic mentoring for students who are falling behind or likely to do so. Both immigrants, they were inspired to provide children in minority communities the opportunity to level-up in their math and ELA (English Language Arts) proficiency – compared to students in other school districts in the US – or even wealthy neighborhoods in Africa – many of who go on to receive acceptance into Ivy League and R1 Universities and Colleges in the United States. Adeolu and Oluwatoyin set out to ensure that academic excellence is not limited to students from affluent families.
